課程概述 |
本課程–心智哲學–是為研究生所開設的進階入門課程。修課同學不須具備相關背景知識。我們在這門課將探討下列議題：心智的本質是什麼？心智與大腦、以及心智與外在世界究竟具有什麼樣的關係？這些一直是西方哲學的核心議題。在當代的討論中，由於認知心理學、語言學、資訊科學、腦神經科學的加入，更使得心智哲學有豐富的發展。我們將介紹並評估關於心智本質的主要理論，如：笛卡兒式的二元論、心腦同一論、功能論。我們也將討論有關心理因果、意識、心智內容、及化約主義的問題。

課程目標 |
本課程有三項目標：第一，能對心智的本質有深入的瞭解。第二，學習如何仔細閱讀哲學作品，並練習使寫作更為清晰。第三，對於一些重要議題能發展出自己的想法。
There are three goals in this course: first, we aim to obtain a deeper understanding of the nature of mind. Second, students learn how to read philosophical texts carefully and write clearly. Third, students try to develop their own thoughts on some of the important issues.

學生除了得花功夫研讀困難的哲學作品，在上課時參與討論，評估各種立場的論證，也需要在作業中提出自己的觀點，並加以辯護。 |
